DATES

Africa Motorcycle Expeditions
Sep 19th to Dec 2nd 2014 CODE: CCT/190914

DURATION

75 DAYS

Africa; The diverse and rugged continent that has drawn explorers and adventurers the world over for centuries. Become part of the adventure as we ride from the bustling, ancient city of Cairo to the exotic, far Cape.

After touring the pyramids and sphinx we glide along the Red sea coast, then inland to the southern Nile cities of Luxor and Aswan, visiting the ageless temples and tombs of the Pharoahs, before crossing into the mysterious Sudan. We cross the Nubian desert past the little known remote pyramids of Meroe and on to the city built on the confluence of the mighty White and Blue Niles; Khartoum. From Khartoum we head west across the flat lands into Ethiopia and instantly start climbing into some of the most spectacular mountains on the planet, the roads twist ever higher up into the Simien mountains and onto a visit to the rock hewn churches of Lalibela and then Addis Ababa, we venture south further past lakes and villages to the southern border crossing into Kenya, its here we get a taste of challenging roads in this remote, rugged and breathtaking region. Finishing the tough roads with a night camp with the Samburu tribes people and then onwards to some colonial history to have high tea at the old residence of Joy Adamson (born free fame) on Lake Niavasha, we have the chance to see Giraffe and Zebra on the roadside before arriving at Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. We are soon into Northern Tanzania to begin our quintessential safari experience into the Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park, catching glimpses along the way of Masaai tribemen, before hitting the coastal town of Dar es Salaam and onto sea ferry across to the spice Island of Zanzibar.

As we head to the south west of Tanzania we ride amazing, winding stretches of the Great Rift Valley, past majestic Boabab trees and far stretched horizons of Umbrella Acacia into Malawi, where we then ride on great winding roads almost devoid of traffic, along the shores of Lake Malawi with a well earned rest at the iconic overlanders resort at Kande Beach. Heading South West out of Malawi we take the quick, but scenic ride through Mozambique onto the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare. The great roads, superb scenery, wonderful people, and stunning National Parks in Zimbabwe will be a highlight of our adventure as we head first to the Great Zimbabwe ruins, then onto an amazing Lion experience at Antelope Park, Gweru, then onto one of the seven wonders of the Natural world, Victoria Falls.

From here we take the short ride across to Botswana to take our evening cruise on the Chobe river, to visit the National park of the same name that is home to over 70,000 Elephants, from here we head across the plains of Botswana to our jumping off point to visit the biggest inland Delta in the world, The Okavango Delta. We then ride North/West into Namibia, In this land of great motorcycling roads we visit National parks, remote seal colonies, see the 3rd largest canyon in the world and ride some of the best constructed gravel roads amongst majestic desert scenery, before crossing the Orange river into our final country, South Africa and ride down to see the South Cape Agulhas before finishing in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
When you reach South Africa you will barely be able to comprehend the diversity of scenery and experiences that make up this breathtaking adventure.
