This is a motorcycle tour of extremes, from the high Altiplano to the lowlands of the Amazon Rainforest. We begin this epic motorcycle adventure with a ride out of La Paz ascending onto the immense Plateau know as the Altiplano. We visit the world’s highest city of Potosi and the UNESCO listed Sucre before descending onto the world’s largest salt flats near Uyuni. The “salar” will leave you in awe as we move between snow capped volcanoes, emerald lagoons and islands seemingly suspended in the Salar. Off the bikes and into a plane we descend into the heart of the greatest jungle on earth the “Amazon”. We spend incredible nights here in an eco-lodge amongst the greatest bio-diversity on earth, it really is unique. Back on our motorbikes we cross into Peru visiting the floating reed islands of Uros on Lake Titkaka before entering into the realm on the Inca at Cusco. Motorcycling dosen’t come any better as we ride the Sacred Valley following the Urubamba River before catching a train the the legendary Machu Picchu. The ride continues on towards the Colca Canyon (deeper than the Grand Canyon) then for the first time we view the ocean and ride the magnificent coastal road before arriving in Nazca. A flight is the only way to see these mysterious lines. We leave our motorbikes in Nazca and opt for a bus to Lima, entering Lima it soon becomes evident why we do this. Tour start: La Paz, Bolivia Tour ends: Lima, Peru
Ride profile: 80% paved roads 20% hard packed dirt, one day in Bolivia entails 4 shallow creek crossings and very short sand sections (nothing extreme). Numerous twisties on the Peruvian coastal road. Some High altitude riding. Average ride per day between 200 kilometres/ 160 miles to 400 kilometres/ 250 miles.
Ride days: 15 (the bikes are also available for personal use on non-ride days) no extra cost.
