PERU, BOLIVIA: ride the Andes!
This is an incredible motorcycle tour that trevases the rooftop of South America encompassing some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on earth “the Andes”. The tour starts off on a high as we fly above the desert floor at Nazca getting a great view of the Nazca Lines. The Incan port of Puerto Inca awaits as does the brilliant Coastal road that clings precariously to the Peruvian coast. The tour gets off road for a little as we motorcycle to the Colca Canyon before riding onto the wonderful heart of the Incan empire, Cusco. No one to South America should miss the sensational Incan ruins of Machu picchu, riding a motorbike through the Sacred Valley visiting Incan ruin after Incan ruin will surely be some of the best motorcycling you will ever do.
We ride across the Andes and onto the Altiplano and Lake Titikaka where you will visit the Uros floating reed islands, (we literally walk on water). Eventually we cross into Bolivia and ride onto the dizzying city of La Paz. As we cross the high Altiplano we will visit the world’s highest city of Potosi, also UNESCO listed, before calling in at the greatest salt flats in the world at Uyuni. This is a surreal landscape of volconos, giant cacti and flamingo filled lagoons. TOUR INFORMATION
Tour start: Lima, Peru Tour end: La Paz, Bolivia
Ride profile: 80% paved roads, 20% hard packed dirt towards Colca Canyon and in Bolivia, numerous twisties on the Peruvian coastal road, high altitude riding. One day in Bolivia can be a little difficult with some sand and a number of shallow creek crossings (4) (nothing extreme). Average ride per day between 200 kilometres/ 160 miles to 400 kilometres/ 250 miles.
Ride days: 15 (the bikes are also available for personal use on non-ride days) no extra cost
