Week one

After an included flight from Santiago we arrive in the wonderful Iquique, located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Turning inland we cross the spectacular Atacama Desert to the oasis adobe village of San Pedro de Atacama where it hasn’t rained in over 400 years. Crossing into Bolivia, at the extremely remote Ollague, we shall ride onto the greatest salt flats on earth at Uyuni. Being out on the “Salar” is one of the best experiences possible, the flats are so vast one can see the curvature of the earth. We shall ride the spectacular high Altiplano crossing the Andes en-route to the worlds highest city at Potosi where an amazing mine tour is organized. Once the richest city in the world Potosi still retains many of its old world charms.

Week two

From Potosi we shall pass dormant volcano’s and lofty passes as we ride the spectacular and remote Altiplano to the amazing city of La Paz, sitting nearly 4 km / 2.5 miles above sea level. A full day is spent in La Paz with an included city tour of this chaotic Bolivian city. Crossing into Peru we shall ride along the southern shores of Lake Titicaca. With the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and the deep blue of the water it is spectacular riding. We take a boat out to the incredible floating reed islands on Lake Titicaca where locals still live. The ride continues into the Andes and onto the capital of the Incan empire, Cusco. This wonderful city, built on Incan foundations, is today a mix of colonial churches, monasteries and fantastic Incan stonework interspersed with great restaurants, pubs and even a biker’s bar.

Last two days

We shall ride the bikes through the Sacred Valley, dotted with stunning Incan ruins, before eventually reaching the legendary “lost city” of Machu Picchu, South America’s most iconic archaeological site. Nothing can prepare you for the splendor of this “new 7th wonder of the world”. A guided tour of this site is included as well as nearly half a day wondering at your leisure. Our final ride shall be back to Cusco through some spectacular mountain scenery.

This tour also operates in reverse, starting in Cusco, Peru and ending in Santiago, Chile.

Understanding The Tour Grade System

This ride grade system is a guide only and it should not be assumed that if a grade 4 ride, for example, is booked and a rider has had limited experience on dirt that it will be beyond them.

Likewise it should not be assumed that if a grade one ride is booked a rider is assured that no dirt will be ever encountered, governments love road works.
