THE RIDE

Week one

Starting in the tropical city of Cairns overlooking the world-renowned Great Barrier Reef we ride into a landscape of rain forests and tablelands visiting the largest lava tube system in the world and the ancient sandstone Cobbold Gorge located on a private cattle farm. Continuing on we enter the epic 186,000 square kilometer Gulf Savannah on our way to Australia’s prawn capital of Karumba stunningly located on the shores of the Turquoise Gulf of Carpentaria. Further on we spend a night remote camping on the banks of the Gregory River before exploring the stunning Lawn Hill National Park  and its the emerald waters of this outback oasis. We see the week out crossing into the incredibly remote and strikingly beautiful Northern Territory.

Week two

The second week starts off with a stay at the wonderful Lorella Downs Station with the opportunity of heli- fishing or flights over the amazing “Lost City”. More dirt as we reach the tiny settlement of Roper Bar on the banks of the croc filled Roper River. We continue onto the legendary oasis of Mataranka, home to the epic “We of the Never Never” book that became synonymous with the Australian outback before spending 2 nights at the UNESCO World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park allowing us to ride this massive park view the wildlife and ancient indigenous rock art. An overnight stop in the “territories” capital of Darwin will give us taste of city life before hitting the “Outback” again. Southbound again we spend a night at Katherine allowing us to enjoy a sunset cruise on the mighty Nitmiluk Gorge a series of 13 gorges banked by sheer 70mt high cliffs, sunset is utterly spectacular. The second week is seen out as we visit on the extremely remote  Timber Creek.

Week Three

We now enter Australia’s biggest state, Western Australia, and ride a vast empty yet incredibly beautiful landscape of ancient red sandstone, turquoise waters and epic cattle stations the size of small European countries.  We visit the immense Lake Argyle before reaching  the mighty Kimberly and hit what is fast becoming Australia’s most iconic must do ride the Gibb River Road. We stay 2 nights at the stunning Home Valley Station where we can explore the Sub tropical oasis’s, permanent waterfalls or rocky escarpments. Continuing along the Gibb River road we reach Derby situated on King George Sound on the Indian Ocean. Understanding The Tour Grade System

This ride grade system is a guide only and it should not be assumed that if a grade 4 ride, for example, is booked and a rider has had limited experience on dirt that it will be beyond them.

Likewise it should not be assumed that if a grade one ride is booked a rider is assured that no dirt will be ever encountered, governments love road works.
