We all know the feeling. You arrive at your motorcycle tour departure point and after having paid for the tour you then get hit ,constantly, with EXTRAS. Things not included in the tour price, costs that weren't specified, OR HIDDEN deep within the section that the company hopes no one will bother to read. With years of leading motorcycle/ overland tours behind us we are well aware of the detrimental effect this can have on a client's experience. That is why we have developed a policy to include everything.
We at Compass Expeditions have adopted a policy of NO HIDDEN COSTS; your motorcycle tour cost price includes everything!
FOOD
Something quite often overlooked. We provide all breakfasts on every day of the tour and all lunches and dinners on all ride days. Our lunches are unique in that we prepare them on the spot and they consist of tasty, healthy sandwiches along with salads and water. Re-hydration is critical at altitude, especially considering that clients will be riding motorbikes, and we take our clients health seriously. All the restaurants we take our clients to have been tried and tested over the years and have proven their quality. Take a look at the competition and see how they compare.
ENTRANCES
In keeping with our all-inclusive policy, all national park entrances, visitors' tickets, ruins entrance fees and activities, as mentioned in the “WHATS INCLUDED” section of each tour, is included in the tour price. We include high quality activities such as helicopter flights over Foz do Iguaçu and flights over the Nazca lines. We don't refer to them as premium excursions or royal tours, we simply include them. We go beyond the norm to find some of the worlds gretaest motorcyle friendly roads. Again we invite you to have a look at our competitors and make a list of what's included.
ITINERARIES
A quick look at our motorcycle tours of South America and beyond ,and you will soon discover that we are a stand alone company when it comes to the motorcycle expeditions that we offer; they are unique, diverse and in most cases we are the only ones that operate in some regions. Why? Because we know South America! Having lived and worked there for nearly 20 years, with one partner still living there, we know all the great places. As well as the famous sights, we know the “off the gringo trails” and with our company you will ride the real South America. Every destination we offer we have either ridden a motorbike or lead a tour in so we have first hand experience in operating in these regions
HAVIN' A LOOK
As motorcyclists ourselves we appreciate that the main reason for joining one of or motorcycle tours is the desire to ride, however, we also take the time to stop and explore the area and never neglect important sights. We are often astounded at the pace of some other motorcycle tours operators, having lived and worked in South America for years, and we know some places just can't be rushed. After all, it is a holiday!
OUR SUPPORT VEHICLE
Our South America Expedition support vehicle is second to none and comes equipped with a small kitchen (for those great lunches), a portable fridge, library, CD player and also has seating capacity for seven passengers. This enables us to carry some non riding passengers. We also tow a trailer for bike carrying, tools and spare parts.
SO WHO ARE COMPASS EXPEDITIONS?
Compass Expeditions was started by three amigos, each having lived and worked in South America as tour drivers and guides, accumulating nearly 20 years experience in the tourism field.
A lawyer, a fireman, and a truck driver, we all share two things in common; our love of travel, in particular South America, and a love of motorbikes.
We formed Compass Expeditions so that we can share our passion and enthusiasm for travel and adventure.
MICK MCDONALD
Mick has travelled the world for over ten years as a tour driver and has undertaken numerous motorbike rides including a circumnavigation of New Zealand on a 175 Serow. Mick followed the original (or what is left of it) Route 66 before riding north to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, then riding south to Mexico City on a Honda Dominator. He also helped organise a charity ride from London across the Stans to Vladivostok on a Honda Transalp. One of the hardest rides Mick undertook was in his mother country of Australia; Cape York Peninsula again on a Honda Dominator. Mick hopes to share his two great loves of travel and motorbikes with other like-minded people.
BRENDAN BARBETTI
A boy from the bush, one time Park Ranger and fire fighter, Brendan left the comforts of his native home for the lure of exotic locations. Having travelled extensively on his own throughout various parts of the world, Brendan has also worked for 6 years for tour companies in Ireland, Africa and South America. Riding motorcycles since the age of 14, Brendan is an avid biking enthusiast.
RYAN HEATH
Originally from Brisbane, Queensland, Ryan has travelled the world independently, as well as leading tours for 6 years through Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, the middle east and South America. Ryan has a passion for travel and a natural ability to organise and run professional tours that keep passengers talking about their experience for years to come.
Together as Compass Expeditions we hope to combine our experience, knowledge, expertise and passion to take you on the most rewarding travel experience of your life.
